International traffic lights day

International traffic light Day is celebrated on August 5th after the events that occurred in 1914. On this day in the US city of Cleveland has its first predecessor of modern devices. It had red and green lights and produced a sound signal when switching the light.

Three-color traffic lights, similar to modern, first saw the residents of Detroit and New York in 1920. Over time, the devices have become popular in different cities of America and Europe. In Russia, there was a traffic light only in January 1930 - at the corner of Nevsky Prospekt and Liteiny Prospect in Leningrad. In December of the same year, an automatic adjuster installed on the corner of Petrovka and Kuznetsky bridge in Moscow.

In 2010 in Perm opened a monument to this device. The event was timed to the International Day of the traffic light. Monuments of traffic lights also exist in many parts of the earth.

Международный день светофора отмечается 5 августа в честь события, произошедшего в 1914 году. В этот день в американском городе Кливленде появился первый предшественник современных устройств. Он имел красный и зеленый фонари, а при переключении света издавал звуковой сигнал.

Трехцветные светофоры, похожие на современные, впервые увидели жители Детройта и Нью-Йорка в 1920 году. Со временем устройства стали популярны в разных городах Америки и Европы. В России светофор появился лишь в январе 1930 года — на углу Невского и Литейного проспектов в Ленинграде. В декабре этого же года автоматический регулировщик установили на углу Петровки и Кузнецкого моста в Москве.

В 2010 году в Перми открылся памятник этому устройству. Это событие было приурочено к Международному дню светофора. Памятники светофору также существуют во многих уголках земли.
